Overload

I wake up to the the sound of my iPhone
Blarin’ that ringtone
It never leaves me alone
With that ping pong repetition
Thinkin’ ‘bout all the stuff I’ve gotta get done
That it’s no fun
That I’m under the gun
And all the things that I’m missin’
I’m missin’ those moonlight walks that I took down by the lake
I’m missin’ just takin’ my time when I had the time to take
It’s such a complicated world
Yeah those were simple times
Just skipping stones
With no cell phones
And talking on the land line
I’m gonna climb up to this mountain top
I’m gonna give my mind a rest for just a minute
I’m gonna close my eyes let it all unwind
It’s so easy to see the race when you’re not in it
Up here there’s one thing I know
Cause I can see down below
It’s an overload
I’ve gotta be on time yeah don’t be late
I’ve gotta take this call I can’t make ‘em wait
This new pace of life it just goes too fast
And when I catchup it never seems to last
I’m missing that muddy slow river that I couldn’t wait to jump into
I’m missing that sweet sensation when I didn’t have nothing to do
It’s such a complicated world
Yeah I miss my simple life
I’m gonna take the day
Go and play
Out here in the sunlight
I’m gonna climb up to this mountain top
I’m gonna give my mind a rest for just a minute
I’m gonna close my eyes let it all unwind
It’s so easy to see the race when you’re not in it
